Tequila is Glam Uni's online radio station based at the ATRiuM in Cardiff and broadcast across the internet from its website at: www.tequilaradio.co.uk
Glamorgan University has previously won awards for its radio access schemes, achieving two BBC Radio 1 awards, including ‘Best Student Station of The Year’, with its ‘Fusion Fm’ that ran in 1999 and 2001. The University then joined forces with GTFM radio, becoming Wales’ first community station in 2001. But since the creation of the Glamorgan University School of Cultural & Creative Industries in Cardiff, the University has been crying out for its own radio station and radio society that can truly showcase the work and ambitions of the great range of talented individuals that the University attracts.
And now it is here!
Tequila broadcasts from 9am - 1am on weekdays, and between 11 -6 on weekends - and gives its members the chance to develop any kind of show or skills they like. It is run by the students, for the students. And although this broadcasting will be an integral part of Tequila, the venture will also aim at creating a student radio society, featuring a wide range of social events.
Tequila's sound offers a more indie/rock/electro taste in music building to more eclectic shows later in the evening. This allows us to offer diversity in our programming, whilst gaining an identity as a station through the type of music played on our daytime output.
